The first report on equine sarcoid in Caspian pony

Although sarcoid has been frequently reported in horses so far,the present article is the first report of equine sarcoid occurrence in Caspian pony.

Equine sarcoid as the most common skin tumor, takes place in different breeds,colors and both genders of solipeds (horses,donkeys and mules).The most common areas of such an occurrence are areas with thin skin and less hair.Various forms of sarcoid consist occult,warty,fibroblastic and mixed types.Therapeutic approaches are different,but recurrent state is the most important problem.

Although sarcoid has been frequently reported in horses so far,the present article is the first report of equine sarcoid occurrence in Caspian pony.

A five-year-old Caspian pony with a warty mass in axillary site and around its prepuce in Rakhsh Equestrain Section of Khorassan Jihad-e-Agriculture Educational Complex was examined.Given the examinaton of the mass under study,the sarcoid warty type was identified.To confirm the primary diagnosis,the biopsy of the mass was conducted and the histopathological examinations indicated the equine sarcoid tumor.
