Summary

Blood values are given for 18 clinically healthy Caspian ponies kept in the School of Veterinary Medicine of Pahlavi University, Shiraz. The haematological data obtained in this study are compared with the blood values of other breeds of horses reported by various investigators. Relative to thoroughbreds and standardbreds the Caspian pony has a lower erythrocyte sedimentation rate and a lower basophil count.
