Physical characteristics of mane hair of Caspian horse is affected by mineral supplement and daily feed intake restriction, and should be used as an indicator of feeding the Caspian Horse.

Abstract

In this research, effects of macro and micro mineral supplements and feed intake restriction on length, diameter, weight and volumetric weight of 120 mane hair of Caspian horse was determined in a completely randomized design.

Based on results of this research, using of mineral supplements increase hair length, diameter and weight (p<0.05).

Also, feed intake restriction caused decreasing of hair weight. So hair weight of horses that were in feed intake restriction, was 64.92 percent less and significantly different with other treatments (p<0.05).

So, physical characteristics of mane hair of Caspian horse is affected by mineral supplements and daily feed intake restriction, and should be used as an indicator of feeding the Caspian Horse.
